Child support is typically calculated based on each Legal parents' incomes and the amount of time each parent spends with the child. The parent with the larger income usually ends up paying some type of child support. It is very important for parents to understand that child support is an important part of ensuring your child has everything he/she needs. Its the number one obligation of any parent, including the parent the has the child majority of the time. Even if you aren't "paying child support" you are still required to finacially support the needs of your child. You need money in order to provide food, shelter, and clothing.
